Celebrating Women on Bikes

It’s International Women’s Day! Today, we’re taking time to celebrate and appreciate the achievements and impact of women in cycling.

Whether you’re just starting out or an experienced cyclist, we hope you can take time to enjoy today and the inspiration we can find from the stories and journeys of women in our sport.

When it comes to women's cycling, it’s impossible not to mention pioneers such as Marianne Vos and Jeannie Longo who paved the way for today’s women’s cycling scene. With medals in the Summer and Winter Olympic Games, multiple world titles in road cycling, mountain biking and cyclo-cross, and professional mountain biking careers, they’ve demonstrated the level that can be reached with hard work and dedication.

As well as trailblazers, let’s not forget the women who share the sport and make it more accessible to all. Organisations such as Chicks Who Ride Bikes and initiatives like Bicycle Networks Women’s Community are championing the joy of getting women on two wheels, creating networks of encouragement and building camaraderie on the bike. Women’s-specific brands, advocacy initiatives and cyclo-sportive events all celebrate the shared love for our sport that women all over the world are united by.

We’d love to hear from you if you’ve got a story to share of your journey as a cyclist or of another woman you know. Why not tag us in it on social media and celebrate her today?

Happy International Women’s Day, everyone!
